A criminology pupil who suffered excruciating second diploma burns on her leg has warned of the risks of filling scorching water bottles from the kettle after one cut up open on her lap. 

Cara Wilson, 21, from Martlesham Heath, close to Ipswich in Suffolk, stated the burns left her in such agony that she was given fuel and air in hospital – a drug normally reserved for girls in labour. 

She had been at her boyfriend’s home in Suffolk throughout Nottingham Trent College’s Easter vacation when he handed her a scorching water bottle crammed with boiling water. 

She stated she put it beneath the blanket on her lap and instantly felt a burning sensation.
